THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE
NIRMALA CONVENT SCHOOL is an English Medium School established and run by the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate. As such it is a minority institution within the Catholic Church. Provision is also made for the admission of Non-Catholic girls.
The medium of instruction is English. Bengali, and Hindi are compulsory subjects at certain stages.
Students are prepared for the ICSE & ICS Examinations.
The classes of Christian Doctrine(an essential feature of the training of catholic girls) are not compulsory for non-Catholic students. For the latter lessons are given on moral principles and conduct.
DISCIPLINE
Every care is taken to maintain good discipline in the school. Any pupil lacking in good manners, respect towards authority, punctuality, regular attendance, cleanliness and orderliness is taken to task at once.
Special attention is given to ensure high standard of morality and discipline in the School. Guardians are requested to collaborate in this with the authorities of the School by insisting on the regular attendance and punctuality of their wards.
Periodic reports will keep parents informed of the progress of their wards. The reports are to be signed by the parents and returned.
Members of the staff are instructed to watch and check indiscipline. Students are answerable to the school authorities for their conduct in and outside the school. Hence, misbehaviour in public place and conveyances justifies dismissal. Continual failure to make satisfactory progress in studies, and above all discourtesy, disrespect and disobedience to teachers and staff are each a sufficient cause for dismissal.
A student resorting to any malpractice is liable to be dismissed from the school. Decision regarding this matter rests completely with the Principal of the school.
Irregular attendance, habitual idleness, disobedience, bad conduct or sickness liable to injurious to other girls justify dismissal.
